Frederic Mompou was completely ahead of his time. Directly influenced by the “impressionist” movement and composers such as Erik Satie, the Spanish/Catalan artist supplies his piano music and songs with sonorities and dance rhythms from his own origin. His abilities to blur line between a progressing obstinati and obscured harmony make for an colorful pallet of sound.
